Sparkles + crystals + pessimism? Whaaaa?
It’s not always hunky-dory ♥’s & glitter ’round here. That would be totally unrealistic. So let’s get real for a sec.
I’m having a down day…this is very rare for me but its here just the same.
Today is my day during the week where I sit down & write my blog posts for the following week along with my newsletter. I usually have 40-50 blog post drafts floating around in my WordPress dashboard at any one time & I filter through them, slowly adding to them here & there as things come up; little gems that go perfectly with the topic. Then on Fridays I sift through & see what tickles my fancy to flesh out & finish up for the following week’s posts.
Today, while sifting through I saw my draft post with a working title of “Beating Pessimism” & I thought “Nahhhh…not a good day to work on that one. Not in the mood.” Then I did a mental slap in the forehead…
“Dope! Today is THE PERFECT day to work this shiz!
You need it!”
OK so here we go. Ready?
You know…pessimism (glass-is-always-half-empty-attitude) has been linked to a higher risk of dying before age 65. So that’s a pretty good reason to stop this Debbie Downer attitude right now.
When we let our positive side SHINE we simply feel better.
Is it b/c we’re not stressed out or anxious? Is it the cause or the effect? Chicken or the egg?
Don’t know.
Who cares.
It doesn’t really matter does it?
All that’s important is that it goes hand in hand. See, when we have the bright positive, sparkly attitude, we rack up a slough of good health side effects:
- boosted immune system
- less stress due to less production of the stress hormone cortisol
- reduction of chronic diseases from decreased inflammation
- PLUS…it just FEELS a whole lot damn better (& you can get rid of those little frown lines between your brows…added bonus!)
So if you’re feeling the Woe-Is-Me Stuffs Creeping up on you try some of these ideas:
1. Take good care of yourself. Eat a healthy diet, exercise regularly & get enough sleep. We all know it. Depleting any of these wreaks havoc on our attitudes & health. (Lack of sleep is partly my reasoning for being in the pits today…not my fault…but you don’t want to hear me yammer on about that!)
2. Throat Chakra Crystal Infusion. Express the emotions you’re feeling honestly yet calmly & rationally so you can effectively deal with what’s eating you. This is all about the throat chakra, baby. (And again, partly the reason for my predicament today…I didn’t do this…kept it bottled up & released it incorrectly *sigh*).
So, my prescription to help correct this is a throat chakra healing session with either blue lace agate or a combo stone of azurite/malachite. This is the lovely free podcast I’ll be listening to while doing that meditation: Emotional Ease by Meditation Oasis. I’m also going to be drinking a gem elixir made of blue lace agate today as my only drink. All day long.
3. Tell someone how you’re feeling. Make sure that person isn’t a negativity monger though…that could just make things worse. You need a supportive ear. If you don’t have a trusted person to talk to then journal it out…its just as good. Getting it out in various healthy ways also helps us to figure things out…sort of what I’m doing right now. *I’m making some HUGE realizations as I type this.*
4. If the pessimism seems to creep in more often than it should, make a crystal grid focused just on this so that whenever you look at it it reminds you to look at the SPARKLY Silver-Lined side. And remember that the more you work with your grid, the better it will work for you.
A good affirmation for such a grid could be: “I call forth my positive self & ask for the ability to see the good while expressing myself in a healthy & optimistic way.”
OK, lots of work to do over here. I better get busy. 😉
(HUGS) & Many Crystal Blessings Chick Peas,
P.S. If this has helped you in any way or you have tips of your own to share please post them below for others to benefit from. We’d all love to hear about it.

Yes! Music! Always helps. I usually find a track that fits perfectly, turn up th volume and go for a ride in my car while I scream my heart out. When empty, put on some more positive music to ease into the real world again, all cleansed and balanced. 🙂
I’ve started sleeping with a black tourmaline, too, to detox.
@Jeanette That’s a great tip Jeanette! As I’ve gotten older I’ve forgotten how healing music can be. Need to remember this tip. TY.♥
OMG! I needed this TODAY! I just wish my blue lace agate wasn’t at home 20 miles away. I’m drinking water, eating clean, listening to my favorite music (as loud as possible at the office and not turning it down for anyone!). I’ve got some old guilt creeping out today.
You work it Jess. And don’t feel guilty for anything!! Guilt serves no purpose. Just control your NOW. ((HUGS))♥

omg did you right this about me? hahah its where I’ve been stuck for a few days!
@null Cheri, I totally FORGOT that this is right in the middle of Mercury Retro too! Major communication snafus so totally makes sense now. Thank goodness the storm has passed for me but still repair work to do. You?
And don’t you just feel better for letting us all know? Getting it off your chest and not bottling it up any longer! The pressures of life can be immense and none more so than when in a position of power, reverence and even notoriety… Your glass is half full. Remember you ARE one of us and as such are entitled to have “off” days and feel as though your glass is half empty instead… Blessings to you and everyone who realises such and faces up to it…
Drink up your crystal waters and fill up once more… never half empty, always half full…
You could be Alice… Ha!
@null YES Sue! TY. ♥♥♥

My go to Pessimism pounders….music, nature and space clearing. Sometimes I listen to some gritty raw music to sing it out and sometimes I listen to some zen music to soothe…depends on what I need. I always try to get out in nature…the beach if I need soothing, the mountains/trees if I need grounding and centering. Sometimes I’ll even ride my bike outside which makes me feel like a little kid, boosts endorphins and makes me sweat it out. But my absolute must do is space clearing. Whether I can steal away or not, I always clear the space with sound clearing, then sage, sweetgrass or sometimes Palo Santo. I make sure all doors and windows are open to let in the sun and pull the wind through and then follow it all with some rose water spritzed about. I make sure to include myself in all the smudge and spritzing…by the time I’m done, it’s nearly impossible to be anything but uplifted. Much love.
YES! YES! YES! This is what its all about! TY for sharing this Kara. 🙂
I’ve found that the more present I am, the better and lighter I feel. Pushing myself into the present moment forces me to let go of whatever is plaguing me from the past (guilt) or future (worry). When getting present is especially hard, I watch a video of Eckhart Tolle on youtube. There are tons of them and listening to him always moves me into the present moment. Here’s a great one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vshBnR4Z9x8 🙂
@Anna Silvernail Sweat TY for sharing this Anna. What a great resource!
Thanks a cajillion for this timely post today on FB. Your super sparkly upbeat attitude has completely inspired me – “daily”. I know we all have down days so thanks another cajillion for helping me find another way to get through it quick and positively.
I am down too. We do not have enough sun in where I live.
We should not forget the Full Moon is coming on the 15th. Apparently, that date has a special energetic effect.
For me, a good cup of tea is helpful and then, I go for a walk.
Thank you for this today…a good starting point as I now can proceed to tackle my overflowing desk and tops of the bedroom dressers!
I came home from a wonderful 10-day visit with my son and 3 1/2 yr old granddaughter. The next week, I fell into a horrible blue funk that left me teetering on the brink of falling into a very deep depression. (We live 1200 miles apart.) Missed all of my dance classes, didn’t go to the gym, didn’t eat very healthily, no meditation, just A LOT of sleep (nice escape from the blahs!)
And then I got my new King of Kings Christmas CD from Lori Line! It’s all instrumental piano music and Christmas music never, ever fails to cheer me up. It’s like a soothing balm for my soul and a motivator for the rest of me. I was back to my old self within a day of listening to her and any other holiday music on Pandora or any of my 62 Christmas CDs. At the same time I went back to wearing crystals again to soak up the energy they release. It’s only November 4th, but we bought a new Christmas tree and today I set up and “fluffed it.” It’s 9 feet tall! I MAY wait until Thanksgiving weekend to trim it, but probably not. 🙂
